Pastoral Support

At Auckley Primary we believe in wellbeing for everyone. Our dedicated pastoral team was created to ensure that all members of our school community can see the benefits of good mental health.

We believe that by recognising the importance of good mental health we will have a school in which all children are provided with opportunities to promote good mental health.

We believe in creating resilient young people who:

  • Seek help when they need it
  • Cope with stress effectively
  • Have good problem solving skills
  • Are able to manage their feelings and lives

At Auckley we are committed to supporting children, families and the wider community in all areas of their lives.

Our vision states “Together we nurture, challenge and inspire.

The aims of pastoral support at Auckley:

  • Nurture a caring and supportive environment;
  • Provide strong role models that ensure personal, social development;
  • Take a holistic approach to achieve confidence and self-worth;
  • Assist children to become independent learners through making informed choices in their personal and academic development;
  • Be approachable and responsive to children’s, parents’ and carers’ needs;

What pastoral looks like in Auckley:

We use emotional literacy to support pupils at Auckley to recognise, understand, handle and appropriately express emotions. All children need to have their emotional literacy nurtured, supported and encouraged, so by ‘talking and teaching’ your child to express themselves appropriately you are empowering them to navigate the emotionally choppy waters of growing up successfully.
